Back to school/ September Raffle question!

Welcome back to School- It is a pleasure getting to know the new 7th graders!
Monthly I offer a chance for students to challenge themselves with a word problem. If you try the problem and post your response here, I will put your name in the raffle jar for the end of the month raffle! Here is this months problem...

Duke measured his pulse and found that his heart beat at a rate of 80 beats a minute at rest. At this rate, how many days will it take his heart to beat 1,000,000 times? Show your work and be sure you explain each step.

  2. First, I realized i had to find out how many beats per hour so i multiplied 80 times 60 because there are 60 minutes in an hour and i got 4800. To get how many beats in a day i multiplied that by 24 because there are 24 hours in a day and i got 115,200. Then i divided 1,000,000 by 115200 to get how many days it takes and i got about 9 (8.68).
