ReplyDeletea. The son got half of the 12 acres and 12/2=6. So the son got 6 acres. Ms. Heron has 3 grandchildren. 6 acres divided by 3 grandchildren is 2 acres each. So each grandchild gets 2 acres of land.
b. Each grandchild has 2 acres and you want to know the fraction of acres each grandchild has out of the 12 acres. So the numerator is 2 and the denominator is 12. That number reduced is 1/6. Each grandchild gets 1/6 of the land.
a. Ms. Heron's son got half of 12 acres which is 6. the grandchildren each got a third of the remaining 6 acres which would mean they each got 2 acres because 6/3=2.
ReplyDeleteb. the fraction for how much land each of the grand children got would be 2/12 or 1/6 when simplified
